Hello! I'm Ana Parra, an illustrator based in London.
Growing up in Madrid I learnt oil painting and drawing with Maruja Trujillo, an artist from the Extremadura region who taught me all about light, composition, colour and oil technique. Her love for the works of our Spanish great masters was ever present and contagious.
I moved to London in 2005, and the lack of an adequate space to work with oils opened a door into digital illustration for me. I have since been exploring the possibilities to create illustrations and animations. Pretty much like oils, I love how digital illustration gives me the freedom of doing, undoing and redoing endlessly until I'm pleased with the result.
I think of my illustrations as calming, evocative images that invite introspection. Through the use of texture, soft tones and well-defined subjects, I aim to connect the viewer with their own sense of aesthetic balance and the feelings that come with it.
